a: What are you talking about? It’s fair—all people are treated equally. Oh, wait – that‘s in a parallel universe…
b: It‘s not fair but we can fight to make it better!
c: Uhm… I know very little about the current justice system.

2)Do you speak out when you witness injustice?

a: *whistling* I didn’t see anything
b: Yes, I speak out because I believe the same as Desmond Tutu, “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen to side of the oppressor.”
c: Honestly, it just depends on the circumstances.

3)In Franchesca Ramsey’s book, Well, That Escalated Quickly, she says that as agents for change, we must “know when to call in and know when to call out.” Do you agree?

a: I sure do, as a matter of fact, I called off just the other day. Franchesca, is that the new lady in accounting?
b: I agree with Franchesca, but sometimes I hesitate to do either.
c: I totally agree with Franchesca and if necessary, I would encourage others to do the same.

4)If you could use a magic wand to reform one thing about the criminal justice system, which of the following would you do?

a: I would make it faster and more efficient.
b: I‘d make it more independent, impartial, capable of resisting lobbying… I cannot stick to one thing only!

5)Are you in favor of the First Step Act (FSA)?

a: Yes, I’m in favor of the bill. From what I know about it, the bill may not solve all of the problems within the criminal justice system, but it’s a step in the right direction.
b: You bet I am! I remember when my son took his first step. That boy acted like he had been walking all his life.
c: Absolutely! I’m in favor of the bill. As a matter of fact, when I first heard about it, I took action and called (tweeted, emailed, etc.) my member of congress and asked him/her to take a step towards fixing our broken criminal justice system by voting YES on the First Step Act.

6)How do you get informed about the latest news in the criminal justice system?

a: I take a pizza, curl up in bed, and binge watch crime TV shows. That counts, right?
b: I use all the available sources – the Internet, books, newspapers, workshops, debates etc. .
c: Oh well… I kiiind of… don’t get informed.

7)Do you think you could personally bring some positive changes if you engage in community activities regarding the criminal justice system?

a: Naaah, I’m just a small ant in a huge ant colony
b: At least I can try… .
c: c) Yes! Superhero – on duty!

8)Do you believe that the criminal justice system is righteous and impartial?

a: No! That’s why I play an active role to bring about change, duuh
b: I’m not the one to judge.
c: It may need some changes

9)Have you – or anyone you know – ever been discriminated against in any way by the criminal justice system?

a: Nope
b: I haven’t, but I know somebody who knows somebody who has been discriminated against by the criminal justice system..
c: Yes. I would be taking this quiz all day if I took the time to tell you about it.
