Hi, WELCOME TO THE LOOP STORE!

I’m Janet and I’m so grateful you’re here.

If you watched Janet's Story video on the HOME PAGE, you get it. The Loop brand was birthed for two reasons: 1) To befriend individuals who have incarcerated loved ones, and 2) To encourage everyone to get involved with reforming our current criminal justice system.

WHO AM I?

Some people would call me a ‘late bloomer’, but guess what? On God’s eternal calendar, I’m right on track and YOU are too! No matter what challenge you may be facing, keep the faith and believe that the best is yet to come.

Trainer

From as far back as I can remember, I’ve always loved teaching. As a child, on any given weekend, I could always be found ‘playing school’ with the neighborhood kids that I skillfully persuaded (with cookies and cherry Kool-laid) to play school with me. As owner and senior trainer at The Loop Learning Center, that same enthusiasm is evident. (Stay tuned for our launch in 2019.) My primary focus is equipping clients with skills necessary for them to make better life choices. With over 20 years of experienced working with high-risk populations, I understand the unique needs and challenges that our clients face.

Advocate

Mass incarceration, criminal justice reform, discriminatory cash bond system, and poor prison conditions—all issues that I’m passionate about. I’m only one of hundreds of thousands of people who realize that the current criminal justice system is broken and in need of immediate repair. While politicians debate the issues and for-profit prisons increase their wealth, innocent people sit behind bars, sometimes for years, simply because they can’t afford bail. Low-level drug dealers continue to receive life sentences, and overcrowded prisons attribute to such horrific conditions that they sometimes cause men and women to return to society in a much worst condition than before they were imprisoned. As a nation, we CAN do better. As a nation, we MUST do better. I choose to be counted in the number with those that are taking a stance for change. I choose to RISE and PARTICIPATE!

Need a dynamic speaker that’s transparent, inspiring, and entertaining (nice way of saying a little nutty)? That’s ME!

Speaker

As part of the ‘baby boomer’ generation, I’ve been around the block a time or two. I’ve experienced the intoxicating feel of victory, as well as, the despair of defeat. I’ve hurt those that I love, and I’ve been hurt by those that love me. I’ve walked in days of plenty, and I remember times desperately searching pockets and the sofa hoping to find gas money to get to work. I know what it’s like to go to bed full of hope and excitement, and I know what it’s like to lie down in so much anguish and pray that Almighty God “will be merciful and take me in my sleep.” I know what it’s like to walk in wisdom, and I know the unfortunate consequences of walking down Fool Avenue. I know what it’s like to feel so loved by God that you pity anyone that’s not you, and I know how it feels to feel so distant from Him that you wonder if He even remembers your name.

Life happens to everyone. We all have regrets. But I refuse to allow my past to dictate my present or my future. Honey, it’s my past that’s made me the courageous woman that I am today! I don’t claim to have it ‘all figured out’, but God has graced me to make it through some very difficult challenges unscathed. So, if you’re looking for someone for your next event that will ‘keep it real’ while bringing an inspiring message of hope and encouragement-

I’d love to hear from YOU!
